The Soil
Times have changed. As rural area and town populations decline, there are new trends emerging-- loneliness and depression. You can hear it everyday on rural main street, "Things aren't the way they use to be." "We used to have a grocery store here." Things have changed. One thing remaining constant in many rural areas, however, is the church or churches; yet, they are struggling to stay in place. Many rural areas share pastors because they cannot afford their own. Even main stream denominations are struggling with filling the pulpit ministry for these small town churches. With part-time pastors and services, the structure of the church body gets diluted and becomes less personal. Thus, individual spirituality becomes very remote. The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 31:8

My mission. Certainly the times have changed. However, one thing that never changes is God's Word. My mission is to help rural citizens become or remain firmly planted in the Bible. It's often heard from rural Christians and churches, "They just don't understand." Sometimes Christians themselves don't understand. I do understand. I understand that God's farmers are special people with special spiritual needs. I do understand that being a farmer is one of God's highest callings. Spring Rain was designed around the following three principles: •To remind, encourage and ground the rural husbandman in his important calling from God. Spring Rain upholds that the farmer's calling is of utmost importance. •To study God's Word concerning the farm itself and what He says about the nature of farming. •To look at how wonderful it is to be situated in a place where we can watch his seasons and see His hand at work. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. 2 Timothy 2:6 (Also engraved in stone at the USDA.
